For Zach Brown, residential design is about more than creating beautiful architecture; it’s about understanding how a family lives and transforming that vision into a home that feels effortless, timeless, and deeply personal. He believes every project should be uniquely tailored to its owners, thoughtfully responding to the land, the surrounding context, and the way the home will be lived in for generations.

With more than a decade of experience designing custom residences, Zach has built a reputation for creating homes that balance refined architecture with practical, livable design. His background is rooted in both architecture and construction, having grown up working alongside his family’s second-generation construction business while earning his architectural education. That foundation continues to influence every project, allowing him to design homes that are not only beautiful but thoughtfully detailed, efficient to build, and carefully considered from the very beginning.

Zach earned both his Bachelor of Arts in Architecture and Master of Architecture from the Savannah College of Art and Design. Throughout his career, he has designed custom homes across the Southeast, collaborating closely with homeowners, builders, engineers, and craftsmen to bring each client’s vision to life. His approach is highly collaborative, emphasizing clear communication, thoughtful problem-solving, and meticulous attention to detail throughout the entire design process.

Today, through Southern Theory Design, Zach offers a personalized design experience centered on creativity, responsiveness, and genuine client relationships. He believes the process of designing a home should be every bit as rewarding as living in it. Whether creating a primary residence, a Lowcountry retreat, or a legacy family home, his goal is always the same; to design architecture with purpose, authenticity, and enduring character.

Zach lives in Bluffton, South Carolina, with his wife, Ashley, a local real estate attorney, and their three daughters. Outside the studio, he enjoys spending time with his family on the Lowcountry waterways, finding inspiration in the landscapes and architecture that make the region such a special place to call home.
